The Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis (IMHA) funds health research in order to develop and support a well-trained base of investigators with the skills and expertise needed to design and conduct innovative and diverse research and knowledge translation activities aimed at improving health.

The ICS Program is designed to foster community development by providing grants and awards to individuals and organizations for the purposes of:
- Enabling research and knowledge translation activities where the circumstances fall outside of CIHR's current suite of funding programs.
- Supporting individuals and organizations whose goals are consistent with CIHR and its Institutes' vision, mandate and strategic directions.
The Operating Grants Program is the principal means by which the Cancer Research Society (CRS) fulfills its mission to support fundamental, early translational and environment-cancer research on all types of cancer to contribute to the advancement of science aimed at preventing, detecting and treating this disease. In partnership with the Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (IHSPR), The Health System Impact Fellowship (for doctoral trainees and post-doctoral fellows) provides a unique opportunity to apply their research and analytic talents to critical challenges in health care that are being addressed by health system and related organizations. To encourage the development of research partnerships that will further the goals and objectives of the HCRI, this funding opportunity is available to support new and existing partnership-building activities including partnership development meetings, agenda-setting activities, the development of research plans and agreements, community consultation and engagement activities. Those interested in the Partnership Development grants should also consider utilizing the HCRI Linkage Tool to further form connections. Sufficient funding is available to fund up to six (6) grants. A minimum of three (3) grants will be reserved for Early Career Investigators. Read more
Canadian Dermatology Foundation (CDF) Innovation Grants Competition 2022
Researchers in Canada are invited to apply for the 2022 Canadian Dermatology Foundation (CDF) Innovation Grants offered in partnership with the Canadian Institute of Health Research – Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis (CIHR–IMHA). The Innovation Grants will provide funding for up to 2 years, with a maximum award of $50,000 per year. IMHA will co-fund up to 4 operating grants in the area of skin research.

Launch of Oral Health and Bone Networks
IMHA is providing support for the creation of two networks: one in the priority area of Oral Health and one in the priority area of Bone Health. The aim of these networks is to provide research leadership, foster innovative research and practices, build capacity and provide a forum that engages the research community and its partners including patients. IMHA will fund two grants. Read more
